I am a pirate, having traveled the world and finding several ports to call home. I’ve lived on an island in the Pacific, an island in the Atlantic, the Southern beaches of California, and, now, in Washington, DC.
Many years ago a psychic (her real, honest to goodness name, was Aura) read my tea leaves and said that there was a ‘J’ in my cup and it was very important. As I was turning 50, one of my daughters told me, “Mom, I want you to try modeling.” I went through the steps, with great exhilaration and, yes, doubt, and sent the requisite images, snail-mail, to FORD Models. Three days later the phone rang, “Hello, Sande? This is Jay, from FORD, we love you and want to talk.” I’ve enjoyed every moment since.
I am a painter, photographer, writer, and model. Expanding the vision of art directors and photographers, being a canvas for make-up and clothing stylists, and exchanging ideas with models from different parts of the globe allows me to be part of a creative team. A healthy lifestyle is a life-long passion for me. You may see me hiking Rock Creek Park trails with my Salukis, Kiya and Bashir, finding joy in countless museums, or walking on a Sunday morning at a nearby Farmer’s Market.
A dream of mine is materializing in the countryside of Virginia, near Charlottesville. Two and a half acres with a home on it to enjoy with my doggies (they are runners!) and be able to have a large garden, as I love designing space and growing things. And, of course, room for a studio to paint in.
